Welcome to Our Lady and St Joseph
We are a Roman Catholic community, living in Hanwell, West London.
Led by Father Charles Cahill, the parish of Our Lady and St Joseph’s, Hanwell, is a vibrant, diverse community, with many groups and activities, helping to celebrate our faith, here in Hanwell, in the midst of a bustling city.
The parish was founded in 1853, growing from the needs of Irish labourers working on the viaduct of the Great Western Railway. The parish now has a thriving cosmopolitan community.
Whether you are new to the parish or an existing parishioner, please explore our website to join in our faith celebration and to find out how you can get the most out of your parish and church community.
Father Bernard's Retirement Celebration on Saturday 25 Feb
What a wonderful day!
"A huge thank you to everyone for the wonderful send-off which I was given last Saturday. The thanksgiving Mass and liturgy was beautiful, and my thanks to all who prepared it and took part in it, not least the children who sang so well. The reception which took place in the hall after the celebration of mass was amazing, there were so many people, and so much food. So much thought and effort I’m sure went into preparing the hall. I am sorry if there were any of you that I didn’t manage to greet or thank individually during the party. It was all somewhat truly overwhelming. So too was your generosity - in expressions of appreciation, cards and gifts. I am sure you will understand if I say that I am unable to acknowledge every gift individually, but do please be assured that every single one is really appreciated. And above all, the generosity of the parish in presenting me with the lap-top, printer and all the trimmings, and a huge cheque, together totalling £3225.00! Such wonderful kindness and a truly wonderful day. I look forward to my retirement, but leave with a sad heart, though a heart full of the love and friendship of so many.
"May God Bless you all."
